A man was found with gunshot wounds outside a home in the city’s northwest early Saturday morning, Calgary police say.

Acting S Sgt. Paul Ralstin tells CityNews people living in the area called police about a man in medical distress just before 4 a.m.

He says the man, believed to be middle-aged, was declared dead at the scene in front of a home on 18 Avenue and 17 Street.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sept. 12 at 9 a.m.

In the meantime, officers seek a red, early 2000s Pontiac Sunfire sedan seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Police ask anyone with information about the vehicle or incident, including CCTV or dashcam footage from the community of Capitol Hill between 3:30 – 4 a.m. on Sept. 9 to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
