Great Hera! A large statue of DC’s Wonder Woman has been unveiled at downtown Calgary’s Bow Valley College.
The 7’6″ statue was revealed Friday on the college’s third floor, and it looks over the Bow Valley Centre for Entertainment Arts (CEA) studio.
The first batch of students from the advanced film production diploma program were there for the unveiling.
“We wanted something to inspire our Centre for Entertainment Arts students as they arrive for classes,” said Alison Anderson, Dean of Business, Technology, and CEA, in a news release.
“We chose Wonder Woman because she is a powerful figure, exudes confidence, and is a wonderful representation of inclusivity in the creative industries.”
While students from the college took photos with the statue, other Calgarians will be able to snag a selfie with the Amazon princess from Themyscira at the Bow Valley College open house on Oct. 21.
“Open House is a great opportunity to learn about our exciting programs,” said Victoria Wells, manager of the Welcome Centre and Student Recruitment at Bow Valley College. “While at Open House, be sure to pose for a social media moment with Wonder Woman.”
The day of the open house also happens to be “Wonder Woman Day,” which celebrates her debut in the DC universe in 1941.
