Calgary police lay charges in fatal stabbing of man in Bowness

A man has been charged with second degree murder following a fatal stabbing in Bowness Tuesday morning.

Just before 3:30 a.m., police say they responded to reports of a disturbance at a home on 41 Avenue NW, near the Bowness Skatepark.

When officers arrived, they found one man who had been stabbed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a Wednesday autopsy, police identified the victim as 54-year-old Calgarian Sean Michael Barber.

Investigators say it was determined the man died during a fight at the home.

Two men were arrested at the scene, though police now believe one man was just a witness, and not involved in the altercation.

Dennis George Hart, 52, of Calgary has been charged with second degree murder in connection to the incident.

He is set to appear in court on Friday.
