The company asks any customers who bought a Sunrise Grade A Fresh Turkey weighing between five and eight kilograms with a best-before date of Oct. 11 from a Safeway, IGA, or Thrifty Foods to bring it back to the store.
In a statement emailed to CityNews, Sobeys says the precautionary decision was made “out of an abundance of caution.”
“This product does not meet our quality standards,” it stated, noting these turkeys will be fully refunded upon being returned.
This move comes just days before Canadian families prepare to cook up turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner.
