Calgary shooting leaves suspect dead, police officer hurt

A suspect is dead and a Calgary police officer is hurt after “gunfire was exchanged” in Falconridge Wednesday afternoon.

Police say officers were at a property along Falsbridge Drive N.E. executing an arrest warrant. That’s when the shootout happened.

The officer who was hurt was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Police say the suspect who was shot was declared dead, while a second person was arrested.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been called to look into this incident.

ASIRT is responsible for investigating “events where serious injury or death may have been caused by police and serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct.”
