Calgary police seize $2M in drugs

Calgary police have charged three people after two investigations led to the seizure of more than $2,000,000 in drugs.

Police said Tuesday the investigation began earlier in the fall after receiving a tip about a man thought to be trafficking drugs in the northeast.

Investigators conducted a traffic stop after receiving an anonymous tip that corroborated this information, pulling over a man believed to be trafficking drugs.

A search on two homes and another vehcle was completed.

Arshman Saleem Abdullah, 29, of Calgary, was charged with seven criminal offences, including four counts of a possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of manufacturing a controlled substance, one count of proceeds of crime and one count of possession of a dangerous weapon.

He is set to appear in court on Nov. 10.

Throughout this investigation, $733,500 worth of drugs were seized, including 5.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1.3 kilograms of MDMA, 1.2 kilograms of fentanyl, and 39.8 grams of cocaine, according to police.

Police also began another investigation in August after they say a man failed to give officers a valid I.D. after a vehicle accident when suspected illicit drugs were found in the vehicle he was driving.

On Friday, Oct. 20, a search warrant was executed on a vehicle and a home on Erin Woods Lane SE.

Elroy Brooks, 46, of Calgary, has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of breaching of a release order.

His court date is Nov. 3.

Kattie Hagan, 37, of Calgary has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of proceeds of crime.

Hagan is to make a court appearance on Dec. 6.

In this investigation, police recovered 15.3 kilograms of cocaine and 2.3 kilograms of fentanyl, worth more than $1,882,000.
