Calgary police searching for poppy box thief

Calgary police are asking for help from the public to identify a man thought to be responsible for the theft of a poppy donation box.

Around 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, a man went into a gas station on Shawville Boulevard SE and approached the till.

According to police, he asked the man to buy cigarettes, and while the clerk was distracted, the man grabbed the poppy donation box and hid it in his jacket.

He then left the store without buying anything.

The man is described by police at 6′ tall, 40 to 45 years old, with a medium build.

Investigators say he was last seen wearing a baseball cap, black jacket and blue jeans.

He was carrying a black bag with a shoulder strap.
