Didsbury RCMP charge man in alleged physical abuse of senior

An employee at a care facility in Didsbury has been charged with assaulting an 87-year-old resident for nearly a year last fall.

The RCMP say on Tuesday, investigators received a report on the alleged physical abuse of a senior at a residential care facility in the central Alberta town.

Officers investigated and determined the elderly victim had been assaulted by an employee at the facility between Sept. 2021 and Aug. 2022.

On Wednesday, RCMP arrested 49-year-old Maximino Garcia, who had been working at the facility since 2014, and charged him with assault.

He was released from custody with several conditions and is set to appear in court on Nov. 20.

Investigation into the matter by RCMP continues as police look for additional victims.
