The Parachute Club vocalist talks Canada’s Walk of Fame induction

The Parachute Club hails from Toronto and rose to prominence during the 80s with three top 40 hits in Canada between 1983 and 1987, including Rise Up.

The band was also one of the first mainstream pop acts in Canada to integrate world music influence, such as reggae and soca, into their sound.

The Parachute Club was also among the 13 groups added to Canada’s Walk of Fame or Canada’s Rock of Fame during a big ceremony in late September.

CityNews’ Todd Kaufman caught up with lead singer and founding member Lorraine Segato just after the event.
