Calgary police ask public to help identify downtown assault suspect

Calgary police are asking the public for help in identifying a man they believe assaulted someone downtown in October.

Investigators say on Saturday Oct. 14 just after 3 p.m., a man was walking with his family northbound on 7 Avenue SE between 7 and 8 Avenue, when he was knocked to the ground by another man.

Police say the suspect had a weapon and gestured at the victim’s family member before leaving.

He’s described as a man in his 30s, with a slim build and dark hair.

At the time of the assault, police say the suspect was wearing a blue dress shirt, blue jeans, and sunglasses.
