Police in Airdrie are investigating a gas theft incident that escalated to shots being fired.

Around 1:30 on Saturday morning, officers received a call from a rural property owner near Linden, reporting that suspects were attempting to steal gas.

When the victim approached the suspects in their vehicle, the suspects rammed into the victim’s vehicle and fired shots at it.

The suspects are believed to be driving a newer model silver SUV and an older model white or silver truck with front-end damage.

Airdrie RCMP is now warning residents about the risks of approaching suspects committing a crime and is reminding residents that the first thing to do in such situations is to call the police.
