One hurt in road rage incident in SW Calgary: police

A road rage incident in the city’s southwest Friday left one person with minor injuries.

Calgary police say at around 5:45 p.m. officers were called to the Canadian Tire on Richmond Road after a person was hit by a vehicle, with the driver fleeing the scene immediately after.

It is unknown what exactly happened before the pedestrian was hit.

EMS attended and treated the person for a leg injury.

Police have no description of the suspect’s vehicle, and the matter is still under investigation.

This comes just weeks after 35-year-old David Mervin Berglund of Calgary was killed in a road rage incident on Temple Drive in the city’s northeast on Dec. 12.

That incident, which police chief Mark Neufelt described as “shocking” resulted in the arrest of 34-year-old Steven Allen of Calgary, who is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 6.
