Fire at NW Sage Hill ‘suspicious’: Calgary police

By CityNews staff

After the Calgary Fire Department doused flames that tore through new homes under construction Saturday in the city’s northwest, the city’s arson unit is calling it “suspicious.”

Fire crews responded to reports of a fire at a row of homes off Sage Hill Terrace just before 1 a.m.

When they arrived, they found two large multifamily residential units under construction that were heavily involved with fire spreading to a third unit.

There are no injuries reported and nobody was in the homes at the time.

Three homes were damaged, while a fourth was partially damaged. In addition, police say several vehicles were damaged by the blaze.

As a result, Calgary police are asking the public for help with any information “from the time leading up to or during the fire” to help with the investigation.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
