Calgary police arrest 2 after lockdown at SE YMCA

Two youths were arrested after a YMCA in southeast Calgary was put under lockdown Friday afternoon for reports of threats, officers say.

Calgary police say they were called to the Brookfield Residential YMCA in Seton around 4:30 p.m. for reports of a disturbance.

This prompted the YMCA to enact its lockdown protocol.

No injuries were reported, and the building was cleared by police.

Two young people attempted to flee the scene, but were quickly apprehended, police say, and are now facing numerous charges.

The YMCA said on X it would remain closed until Saturday morning.

“We look forward to welcoming you back tomorrow morning,” the post reads.
