If you’ve been outside yet you probably already know, but Calgary has woken up to a fresh dump of snow Sunday.
The City of Calgary crews began preparing for the snow Saturday by applying anti-icing agents to potential trouble spots like bridge decks.
Once snowfall ends, the work starts on high-volume roads in the first 18 hours such as Crowchild Trail, Glenmore Trail and Memorial Drive.
The city will also clear sidewalks, both pedestrian bridges and vehicle bridges, LRT platforms, and around 1,300 high-use bus stops.
Between 18 and 36 hours, the city will move on to major Transit and community routes and roads that see more than 5,000 vehicles per day, which include Kensington Road and Acadia Drive.
With the snow hitting the ground, drivers are being warned to drive with extra caution over these potential trouble spots.
In addition, the city is reminding drivers to monitor changing weather conditions and drive through them accordingly, and leave plenty of time to get to where you need to go.
In the coming days, Calgarians will see colder temperatures than what has been a warm winter.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) stated that 2023 was the second warmest year on record for Calgary.
CityNews Meteorologist Michael Kuss says from Wednesday, Jan. 10 through to the end of the week, highs in the city will likely not exceed -20 C.
However, the ECCC says to expect highs of -27 C on Thursday and -28 on Friday. It will start to climb back up on Saturday with a high of -22 C.
Meanwhile, Sunday is expected to have a high of -11 C, with the windchill going from -22 C to -16 C in the afternoon. The wind chill at night is expected to hit -25 C.
RCMP also advises being prepared when driving in the winter and checking 511 Alberta for roadway updates before heading off on a trip.
