Calgary ski jumper Alex Loutit clinches third place at Slovenia World Cup event

By Dione Wearmouth

It’s been yet another incredible weekend for Calgary’s ski jumping superstar, Alex Loutit.

The 20-year-old soared into third place during the Ski Jumping World Cup event in Slovenia on Saturday, marking her sixth podium finish of the season.

Despite the success, she told Ski Jumping Canada that she wasn’t very happy with her jumps, which earned her 258.9 points.

She also pointed out the incredible support for the sport in Slovenia, saying it was “so cool” to have 10,000 people attending the country’s only women’s ski jumping event.

This comes after last weekend when Loutit and fellow Calgarian, Abigail Strate, made history.

The two paired up in the super team event to win a silver medal at the World Cup event in Japan the first time Canada has ever medaled in a super team ski jumping competition.
