Calgary doctor found guilty of inappropriately touching assistant

A family doctor in Calgary has been found guilty of touching his office assistant inappropriately, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) said Monday.

The CPSA says an allegation was made that in September 2021, Dr. Victor Taye Fadayomi touched the breast of one of his medical office assistant without her consent.

The doctor admitted to the touching but says the contact was accidental, according to the CPSA.

A Hearing Tribunal heard from witnesses and reviewed evidence before finding the woman’s recollection of events credible.

Fadayomi’s conduct was deemed unprofessional under the CPSA’s Boundary Violations: Sexual standard of practice, it said.

The Hearing Tribunal will come together at a later date to consider sanctions against the physician.

As the complainant in the case was a not a patient, mandatory sanctions for sexual abuse under the Health Professions Act don’t apply, the CPSA said.
