‘I owe them my life:’ Calgary Flames legend says two off-duty nurses came to rescue during airport cardiac event

Calgary hockey legend Lanny McDonald is thanking two “selfless nurses” who jumped in to help him during a “cardiac event” at the Calgary International Airport Sunday.
McDonald, 70, said in a post to Instagram Monday that he had spent the weekend at the NHL All-Star Game in Toronto, and suffered the medical emergency while at YYC.
He explained that two nurses were passing by to catch their flights and “immediately jumped into action”
In the heat of the moment, McDonald said his wife Ardell wasn’t able to catch the names of the pair, but that they are “eternally grateful for their care and action.”
“I owe them my life,” he wrote.
McDonald also expressed his thanks to the Calgary Airport Police, Calgary paramedics, Calgary Fire and WestJet for their role in helping him.
He continues to recover in the hospital, where he said the “amazing” care continues and each nurse and doctor is better than the next.
