Man and teenager charged in theft at Calgary mall

Calgary police have charged one man and one teenager for stealing winter coats from a Hudson’s Bay department store at a mall in the city.
Investigators say around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, one man and one teen boy went into The Bay at Chinook Mall on Macleod Trail SW, stole two high-end winter jackets, and left the store.
When they were followed by security, police say the man pulled out a knife and threatened officers before leaving the scene.
Staff at the store contacted police and the suspects were found a short distance away in possession of the stolen items.
Twenty-year-old Bobby Burns has been charged with assault, theft under $5,000, and carrying a concealed weapon, according to police.
A 16-year-old boy is also facing a charge of theft under $5,000. He can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Both individuals are set to appear in court on Tuesday, March 5.
