Suspect sought in multi-vehicle crash, hit and run involving deer: Alberta RCMP

A deer on the road led to a multi-vehicle crash and a hit-and-run along Highway 1A just east of Cochrane Wednesday.

Mounties responded to the crash on Highway 1A and Township Road 260 in Rocky View County at 7:21 p.m.

“When police responded, investigation revealed that a deer had entered the roadway and collided with three oncoming vehicles,” Const. Kelsey Davidge tells CityNews.

“Three vehicles had stopped and were damaged as a result of colliding with the deer.”

She says after a passenger got out of his vehicle to look at the damages sustained from the deer and ensuing crash, he was struck by an oncoming vehicle described as a Dodge pickup truck that simply drove on.

The passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Davidge says police are asking anyone with information about the hit and run to call Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000, Three Hills RCMP at 403-443-5539, or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
