1 rushed to hospital following assault in NE: Calgary police

One person is fighting for their life after an assault in northeast Calgary Sunday morning.

Calgary police say they were called to Edmonton Trail and 1 Avenue NE around 6:15 a.m. after two people were involved in an altercation with another group of people.

One person was treated on scene and later released while the other was transported to hospital by EMS in life-threatening condition.

The Edmonton Trail and the 1 Avenue intersection opened up several hours after police investigated the area. At one point, officers detoured people on left/westbound onto 1 Avenue.

The intersection opened up before 1 p.m.
