After failing to make the Western Hockey League (WHL) playoffs the Calgary Hitmen are making sweeping changes behind the bench.
The club says the contracts of head coach Steve Hamilton, and assistant coaches Trent Cassan and Don MacGillivray will not be renewed.
“Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation would like to thank Steve, Trent and Don for their contributions to the Calgary Hitmen and wish them success in the future,” Hitmen Vice President and Governor Mike Moore offered in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
The Hitmen were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention during the second last game of the regular season. They finished the 2023-24 campaign with a 28-31-8-1 record, ninth in the Eastern Conference.
