Minor hockey volunteer accused in sexual assault of 4 teens: Alberta RCMP

By Lauryn Heintz and The Canadian Press

RCMP in the central Alberta town of Sundre have charged a minor hockey volunteer with sexual assault.

Police say on March 27, 2024, they became aware of a complaint of an alleged sexual assault involving a Sundre Minor Hockey Association volunteer.

Investigators have since determined there were four victims, all teenage boys.

On April 5, 2024, RCMP arrested and charged 32-year-old Sundre resident Alexa Suitor with sexual interference, sexual assault, and four counts of making sexual explicity material available to a child.

RCMP could not say whether the teens involved were hockey players, but confirmed none of the allegations occurred at the local arena.

Suitor was the association’s secretary for this year’s season, but Sundre Minor Hockey vice-president Amber Jenkins says in a statement that “the accused was not a coach, manager or otherwise directly involved in the delivery of hockey programming to the kids of the association.”

Jenkins says the allegations are not related to hockey activities or Sundre Minor Hockey, adding the association has removed the person from its board while the matter is before the courts.

She was released on conditions and is set to appear in court in Didsbury on April 22.

As the case is now before the courts, and to protect the privacy of the victims, no further information will be released.
