Police have confirmed a suspicious death at a home in Calgary’s southeast on Monday morning is the city’s latest homicide.

Calgary police were called to a home on Prestwick Terrace SE, in the area of Deerfoot Trail and 130 Avenue SE, around 8:30 a.m. for reports of an assault.

Responding officers found a man dead inside the home.

An autopsy done on Tuesday confirmed the man was murdered, police say. The victim has been identified as Joel Aaron Clark, 46, of Calgary.

A suspect fled the area before police arrived but was arrested shortly after at a nearby shopping plaza. Police confirmed Tuesday a man is in custody and charges are pending.
