Calgary Fire crews had to battle a blaze at a southwest home Thursday evening.

Calgary fire crews were on scene of a fire at a home in southwest Calgary on Thursday evening.

The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) says they received calls just before 5 p.m. about a structure fire in the area of Palliser Drive and 19 Street SW.

Battalion chief Alistair Robin tells CityNews crews arrived to find smoke and fire coming up through the roof of a duplex. He says crews searched the building and confirmed there were no residents or pets inside.

“The fire did burn up through the roof so we need to deploy master streams from ladder platforms to make sure it didn’t spread,” he says.

Robin says the fire is under control and was contained to one building. He says the building was under renovation.

    There are no reported injuries.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.
