Charges laid in daylight Okotoks shooting that seriously injured one

RCMP in Okotoks have laid charges in a daylight shooting earlier this week that left a man with serious injuries.

Emergency crews were called to Sheep River Court, in a residential area on the west side of Okotoks, around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived, responders found a 53-year-old man who had been shot.

He was rushed to a Calgary hospital by STARS air ambulance.

The victim is still recovering in hospital, according to police.

Kaden Clouston has been charged with discharge a firearm with intent, aggravated assault, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, two counts of possession of a restricted firearm without a license, and three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The 26-year-old was taken in custody following a hearing and is expected to appear in court in Okotoks via video on Friday.

Investigators are once again stressing that the incident was isolated and there is no threat to the general public.
