Those vying for the top spot in Alberta’s New Democratic Party will converge on Calgary for the second of three debates this weekend.
MLAs Kathleen Ganley, Sarah Hoffman and Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse, Alberta Federation of Labour president Gil McGowan, and former Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi are all expected to attend the event at the BMO Centre.
The party says the debate on Saturday, May 11 will be co-moderated by news director and radio host Rishi Nagar and public affairs advisor and communications specialist Cheryl Oates.
Contestants will answer questions from the media and members of the public and will have the opportunity to debate each other in pairs.

Those looking to attend the debate in person must register in advance. It will also be streamed on the party’s Facebook and YouTube channel.
The number of eligible voters — those in good standing by the April 22 deadline — will be announced by the party the day after the debate.
After that, each candidate will get the complete membership list and continue on their campaigns to be the next leader of the Alberta NDP.
May 12 is also the next deadline for the final $20,000 in leadership contest fees to be submitted.
Voting begins June 3 and runs through to June 22, the day the party will announce the new leader.
