Alberta RCMP have laid homicide charges after human remains were found during a grass fire in Rocky View County, west of Calgary, last month.

The Tsuut’ina Nation Fire Department was responding to blaze in the area of Range Road 40 and Highway 8 in Rocky View County around 5:30 a.m. on April 4 when, upon extinguishing the fire, crews came across a body.

The individual was identified as 33-year-old Kyle Schuiling of Calgary.

RCMP now say that on May 3, 39-year-old Christopher Stack was charged with the first-degree murder of Schuiling.

After a Judicial Interim Hearing and two subsequent court appearances, Stack was remanded and is set to appear in Calgary court on May 27.
