Police identify man who allegedly asked teen for sex at Calgary rec centre

Police have identified a suspect who allegedly exposed himself and asked a teenager for sex at a recreation centre in Northwest Calgary.

Calgary police say a male youth was in the changeroom at Thornhill Aquatic & Recreation Centre, near Centre Street and 64 Avenue NW, on May 5 when he was allegedly approached by a stranger.

It’s alleged the suspect made “unwanted” sexual comments while exposing himself to the teen victim. Police say the victim ignored the man and left the changeroom shortly after.

It’s further alleged the suspect followed the victim out of the changeroom and sat in the centre’s common area, making more sexual comments as the victim walked by.

The teen reported what happened to his mother, who subsequently reported the incident to police.

CPS released photos of the suspect and a suspect vehicle on Wednesday afternoon and asked for the public’s help identifying him after exhausting all other investigative avenues.

Police say the man was identified later in the day after police received tips from the public.

Anyone with further information is being urged to contact police.
