2-year-old struck in parking lot hit-and-run in Airdrie; RCMP looking for driver

Mounties in Airdrie are trying to identify a vehicle after a toddler was struck in an apparent hit-and-run in a grocery store parking lot.

RCMP say the collision happened around noon on Friday in the parking lot of a Superstore near Main Street and Veterans Boulevard.

A two-year-old girl broke loose from her parent and was running in the lot when she was struck by the front driver side of a car, according to police. The driver did not stop and left the area.

Police say the child was not seriously injured.

Investigators are now asking for the public’s help finding the vehicle and the driver.

The car is described as an older navy blue hatchback, possible a Subaru Justy or Mazda 323. The driver is described as a man in his mid-20s to early-30s with a pale complexion, black hair and beard.

Anyone with information, or anyone with dashcam footage of the area around the time of the incident, is being urged to contact police.
