Former Alberta minor hockey volunteer in court on sex assault charges

A former central Alberta minor hockey association volunteer is set to make an appearance in a Didsbury courtroom Monday.

Alexa Suitor, a 32-year-old Sundre resident, is charged with sexual interference, sexual assault, and four counts of making sexually explicit material available to a child.

RCMP began investigating after receiving a complaint in late March involving a person with the Sundre Minor Hockey Association.

Investigators have since determined there were four victims, all teenage boys.

At her last appearance on April 22, Suitor was accompanied by a handful of supporters.

During that hearing, her lawyer asked the case be put over to May 27 to wait for the Crown to disclose evidence.

Police have not said whether the teens involved were hockey players but have said the alleged offences didn’t occur at the local arena.

Suitor was the association’s secretary for this year’s season but has been removed from the organization’s board.
