Serious crash shuts down stretch of Highway 1A west of Calgary for 18 hours

A serious crash shut down a stretch of Highway 1A west of the city for several hours starting Monday evening.

Emergency crews responded to a collision on the highway just west of Ghost Lake Village around 5:17 p.m.

STARS Air Ambulance responded to the crash, but there is no word on any injuries.

Cochrane RCMP closed Highway 1A in both directions to investigate.

Detours were in place at Morley Road and near Jamison Road. Motorists were asked to avoid the area.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, RCMP posted to social media that the scene was cleared.
