19-year-old critically injured after walking on Stoney Trail with 13-year-old boy

A 19-year-old is in critical condition after reportedly walking into traffic and trying to stop vehicles on a Calgary highway.
Emergency crews were called to Stoney Trail just north of McKnight Trail NE around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday for that someone was struck by a car.
Calgary police say a 2010 Cadillac CTS4 was traveling in the right southbound lane on Stoney when a 19-year-old man entered the lane of traffic and was struck.
Paramedics say the 19-year-old was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains there in critical condition.
The 25-year-old driver of the Cadillac stayed at the scene and was not injured. Police also say the injured man who was struck was accompanied by another pedestrian, a 13-year-old boy, who was also not injured.
Investigators say police received calls about two males walking into traffic and trying to stop vehicles shortly before the crash occurred.
“Speed, alcohol and drugs are not considered to be factors in the collision for the driver or the two pedestrians,” reads a release from CPS.
Southbound Stoney Trail was closed for several hours between Airport Trail and McKnight Boulevard for the investigation but reopened around 9:45 a.m.
