Calgary police have laid charges after a man was held against his will, beaten, and robbed in a northeast hotel room last month.

Investigators say on May 9, police learned of a kidnapping incident after a man went to hospital for several injuries he is believed to have got after being repeatedly assaulted and held against his will.

Police say the man went to a room at the Emerald Hotel & Suites at 2750 Sunridge Boulevard SE on May 6 around 1 a.m. to meet a woman that he knew.

Once he got to the hotel, he was met by the woman and a man, who he also knew, and was held in the room and at a home for several days.

Investigators say he was robbed, physically restrained, and assaulted several times.

During the kidnapping, the man was confined in the hotel room for several hours and then taken to a house on Centre Street N where he continued to be held against his will.

Police explain he was restrained, threated, and assaulted at the home for several days before being taken back to the Emerald Hotel & Suites on May 9, at which point he was able to escape, get to a hospital, and report the incident to police.

Officers went to the hotel where several people thought to be in the room at the time of the kidnapping were arrested.

Police have charged 30-year-old Samantha Lawrence, 36-year-old Thorren John Aldrich, and 29-year-old Kaitlyn Marlene Elliot with several crimes, including kidnapping, robbery, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a prohibited firearm, fabricating evidence, and identity fraud.

Investigators believe the incident is drug-related.

Police searched the hotel room, house, and vehicles thought to be connected to the incident, and seized several weapons and ammunition including a handgun, a revolver, a SKS rifle, a staple gun, a mini blow torch, a homemade taser, and several rounds of ammunition.
