Cluster of severe storms over Calgary bring heavy rain, hail

A severe thunderstorm warning has now ended for Calgary after parts of the city were hit with hail and heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon.
Environment Canada issued the warning around 4:30 p.m. and warned of a cluster of severe storms moving slowly across the city that were “capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel-size hail and torrential rain.”
The warning was cancelled around 5:30 p.m.
The storms were expected to bring lots of small hail, but ECCC warned nickel-size hail was also possible. Several callers to the CityNews 660 newsroom reported heavy rain and lots of hail falling in the west and southwest parts of the city.
Environment Canada was asking residents to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
The weather agency also cautioned motorists that flash floods could cause pooling on roads.
