Calgary police find man accused of assaulting girl in Prairie Winds Park

Calgary police have found a man who they say assaulted a young girl in the city’s northeast in late July.

Police received reports about a “physical altercation” between a man and a 12-year-old girl at around 8:15 a.m. on July 30 in Prairie Winds Park.

The man, who is between 40 and 50 years old, verbally confronted the victim after an “interaction” happened between his son and the girl. Investigators say when it escalated, he struck the victim. It’s unclear what the interaction was.

EMS says she suffered from minor injuries and was taken home by attending officers.

Officers say charges are pending and more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
