Suspect threw objects at police from sunroof during Alberta highway chase: RCMP

Two men are facing a long list of charges after allegedly leading officers on a wild police chase through central Alberta.
Wetaskiwin RCMP say officers were on patrol around 1 p.m. on Oct. 10 when they spotted a vehicle towing a trailer that had a stolen license plate.
The RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) tried to stop the vehicle, but it took off southbound on Highway 2.
As officers pursued the suspect vehicle, a man allegedly crawled out of the sunroof and started throwing objects at police. The same man then unhooked the trailer and the vehicle took off at high speeds.
Police continued to track the vehicle from a safe distance.
When officers used a spike strip to pop their tires, the suspects allegedly drove to a rural property and stole another vehicle. They continued driving at high speeds through rural roads in the Lacombe County and Red Deer County areas.
Police eventually used a second spike strip which stopped the stolen vehicle and led to the arrest of two suspects.
Leduc County resident Jeff Medd, 40, and Wainwright resident Corey Peers, 35, are facing 11 charges each, including two counts of fleeing police, two counts of vehicle theft, and two counts of assaulting police officers.
The pair appeared in a Wetaskiwin courtroom on Oct. 15.
