Thousands in drugs, stolen gun seized in Calgary drug trafficking investigation

Calgary police have laid more than a dozen charges against a man following an extensive drug-trafficking investigation.

Investigators say they first learned of the man and his vehicle in February at which time a District 8 patrol officer and the District Operation Team (DOT) began keeping tabs on his activities.

Police saw him on several occasions conducting activity consistent with drug trafficking while driving a white 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Officers searched a home in Cranston on Oct. 28 as part of the investigation. The Jeep was also searched.

Police found a hidden compartment in the back side of the front passenger seat of the vehicle, which had cash, drugs, and a handgun in it.

Also seized during the search was more than $50,000 worth of drugs, including marijuana, magic mushrooms, cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone, and ecstasy.

Officers also recovered a loaded 9mm Norinco pistol, nearly $20,000 in cash, and two cans of bear spray. The Jeep and a 2011 white GMC Sierra 2500 were also recovered as stolen property.

Robert Maurice Stone, 27, has since been arrested and charged with eight counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, knowing possession of an unlicensed weapon, unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon and ammunition in a a motor vehicle, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a restricted weapon obtained by crime, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

He is set to appear in court on Wednesday.
