All CTrain stations in downtown Calgary are shut down after a pedestrian was hit by a train on Tuesday evening.
Police tell CityNews a person was hit by a train near City Hall station at 7 Avenue SE and 3 Street SE around 5:30 p.m.
Images from the scene suggest the person was hit by a Red Line train that was travelling northbound from Victoria Park/Stampede station and coming out of the tunnel near the Central Library.
Paramedics say the victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
Calgary Transit says all stations along 7 Avenue are closed and shuttle buses will run in their place.
Riders trying to use downtown stations are being asked to make their way to 6 Avenue and 9 Avenue during the closure. People travelling from Victoria Park/Stampede are being asked to catch buses at northbound Macleod Trail and 17 Avenue.
Delays are expected along both the Red and Blue lines.
