Woman suffers serious injuries after being struck by vehicle: Calgary police

Calgary police say a woman between 20 and 30 years old wearing only a jacket and shoes was struck by a vehicle in the city’s southwest Friday night.

They tell 660 NewsRadio the woman, who was taken to hospital with life-altering injuries at around 6 p.m., was spotted in the area of Glenmore Trail and Elbow Drive SW when she was hit.

Witnesses told police she was moving frantically when she was struck, but they are still investigating what happened.

Police say the driver stayed on scene, and that alcohol and drugs are not factors.

However, the woman is being investigated for alcohol and drug use. She remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Some roads in the area were closed off while police investigated.
