Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in SW Calgary: police

A man has died after being struck by a vehicle in southwest Calgary. Police say impairment and speed are not factors in the incident.

A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Calgary’s southwest Wednesday night.

Police were called to 61 Avenue and Elbow Drive SW around 7 p.m. for reports of a crash.

Officers found a man dead when they arrived on scene.

Investigators say the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.

Speed and impairment aren’t considered factors in the incident.

Roads in the area were closed for some time to allow for an investigation.

Anyone with dashcam footage of the area at the time of the crash is asked to contact police.
