Youth charged in Chestermere after online video shows back alley attack

A young person is facing charges after another youth was allegedly attacked in a back alley in Chestermere this week.
RCMP say they received reports of the assault on Monday and started getting more reports after video of the incident began making the rounds on social media.
Following an investigation, officers arrested a youth on Tuesday and charged them with assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats. A second youth has been charged under the Chestermere antibullying law.
“Videos such as these are disturbing to watch,” reads a release from RCMP. “Chestermere RCMP want to assure the public that this incident has been investigated and appropriate enforcement action has been taken.”
The accused will appear in a Strathmore courtroom in February 2025.
