RCMP warn of black ice, severe winds on QEII north of Calgary

Mounties are warning of dangerous driving conditions on the QEII Highway north of Calgary due to ice and strong winds.

The RCMP say there is black ice and severe winds along the highway between Airdrie and Red Deer.

Conditions are specifically bad in the area of Olds and Bowden.

“These road conditions will impact the ability to stop in short distances,” reads a release from police. “Drivers are asked to be cautious and slow to appropriate speeds on the highway.”

People are being urged to avoid travel altogether if possible.
