Police say in December 2024, employees from a storage facility contacted them to report a theft in the Mayland Heights area, where the suspect reportedly stole three boxes of comic books and an electric scooter.

Calgary police have charged a man in a string of storage locker break-ins across the city, including one that saw thousands of dollars worth of comic books stolen.

The first reported break-in, according to investigators, was on Dec. 23, when employees from a storage facility reported a theft from a locker in Mayland Heights. In this case, the suspect was allegedly seen leaving the building with an electric scooter, trying to balance three boxes filled with unique comic books.

Just days later, on Dec. 26, police responded to another facility break-in in Douglasdale. Investigators believe the suspect got into the storage facility using a scooter, broke into a locker, and left the property. They eventually came back with a black Chevrolet Malibu with its licence plate. It’s also believed the suspect stole a large amount of tools.

Last week, officers executed a search warrant on a house on 50 Street SE, where they recovered two stolen electric bikes, three boxes of vintage comic books, and a large amount of DeWalt and Bosch tools.

Daniel St. Germain, 46, has been charged with one count of break and enter, two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, one count of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and breach of a conditional sentence order.

His next court appearance is Feb. 18.
