Calgary police investigating downtown death

A downtown Calgary intersection was closed Thursday morning for police to deal with an ongoing incident.

6 Avenue SW at 8 Street SW was shut down in all directions after a body was located in the area.

The road has since reopened, and the righthand westbound lane was blocked for several hours later.

The incident was first reported around 5 a.m.

Police say at this time, the manner of death is undetermined and responders are waiting for the medical examiner to arrive.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area and find an alternate route.
