One person is dead after a police shooting in a southeast Calgary trailer park on Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the Red Carpet community near 17 Avenue and 68 Street SE around 11:15 a.m. for reports of domestic violence.

Calgary police (CPS) say a man exited a home with a knife and ran towards a responding officer. One officer fired their taser and another shot their gun, according to CPS.

Police say a knife was recovered from the scene.

Officers provided first aid to the injured man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

CPS say the province’s police watchdog, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT), will takeover the investigation.

ASIRT investigates any events where serious injury or death may have been caused by police.
