Man alleged to have sexually assaulted child at Lethbridge pool, police believe there are more victims

Police in Lethbridge have charged a man with sexually assaulting a child at a public swimming pool, and believe there may be more victims.

Last Monday, Feb. 10, officers attended the Stan Siwik Pool on 15 Avenue North in Lethbridge following reports an 11-year-old boy had been sexually assaulted by an unknown man.

Investigators believe the man approached the child in the men’s changing room and sexually assaulted him.

The man was identified and arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Quan Phuoc Tran, 66, of Lethbridge, is now facing charges of sexual assault and sexual interference.

Lethbridge police say Tran has since been released from custody with conditions, banning him from Stan Siwik Pool and any other public park, swimming area, daycare, school ground, playground, or community centre where people under 18 might be present.

He is also prohibited from having any contact with the victim and any other child under 18, except for immediate family members.

Tran is set to appear in court on March 25.

Following an investigation, police believe there may be additional victims, A photo of Tran is being released by police in an effort to encourage unidentified victims to come forward.
