Calgary Roughnecks upgrade crease in significant trade

The Calgary Roughnecks are upgrading their crease.

In a Tuesday trade, the National Lacrosse League team acquired 37-year-old goaltender Nick Rose from the Toronto Rock — last season’s NLL Goalie of the Year.

“Nick is a top-tier goalie in the league,” Roughnecks general manager Mike Board said in a release. “We’re excited to be able to acquire him and add him to the group as we battle for a playoff spot.”

The veteran netminder has made 655 saves, with a 9.03 goals against average and .805 save percentage in 18 games this season. He’s also added eight assists.

Rose briefly suited up for the Riggers in 2012.

Calgary has allowed the fourth most goals (140) this NLL campaign, while scoring the most (143).

The trade also includes defenseman Tyler Hendrycks and a 2025 4th-round pick coming to Calgary. Going to Toronto, defenseman Robert Hudson, goaltender Gowah Abrams, and Calgary’s 2026 1st-round selection.

The 6-5 Roughnecks continue their post-season push on the weekend, visiting the Colorado Mammoth.
