Michael J. Fox and the cast of the ‘Back to the Future’ franchise will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the beloved time-traveling films with a stop at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo this spring.
Fox, who played Marty McFly, will join Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown), Claudia Wells (Jennifer Parker), and James Tolkan (Mr. Strickland) at the BMO Centre from April 24-27, 2025.
“I mean it doesn’t get much bigger than this,” says Andrew Moyes, Vice President at Fan Expo HQ. “For him to come to our events and specifically choose a spot which obviously means something to him, it really does make it all that more special.”
The ‘Back to the Future’ film trilogy celebrates 40 years in 2025.
Born in Edmonton, Fox personally selected Calgary as one of four North American appearances he’ll be making to mark the milestone.
On Friday, April 25, fans will have the chance to be a part of the first Canadian 40th anniversary reunion event live on stage, with an experience called ‘An Evening with Marty & Doc, Celebrating 40 Years!’ that will feature Fox and Lloyd.
“This is one of those evening events where the two of them will be on stage and never quite know what’s going to happen, what stories are going to come through,” says Moyes.
General admission to the event is free with any multi-day or Friday admission to the Calgary Expo. Reserved, priority seating tickets are also available for purchase.
Special experience packages, including in-person autographs, professional photo-ops, and more, will go on sale Tuesday, March 4, at 10 a.m.
Other guests at this year’s Calgary Expo include David Giuntoli and Bitsie Tulloch of “Grimm,” Marisa Tomei (“Spider-Man,” “My Cousin Vinny”), Alicia Silverstone (“Clueless,” “Batman & Robin”), Charlie Cox (“Daredevil”), Jodie Whittaker (“Doctor Who”), Catherine Tate (“Doctor Who,” “The Office”), Adam Savage (“MythBusters,” “Tested”), Tyler Hoechlin (“Superman & Lois,” “Teen Wolf”), and legendary comic creator Frank Miller.
The festivities will kick off with the 11th annual Parade of Wonders through Victoria Park.
