Police say speed was likely a factor after a rollover crash on Stoney Trail over the weekend that sent four people to hospital.
Emergency crews were called to the westbound lanes of Stoney Trail west of Country Hills Blvd NW around 11 a.m. Saturday for reports of a serious crash.
Investigators say a 2014 BMW M5 with a driver and three passengers, all men in their 20s, was heading westbound on Stoney in the left shoulder when the driver lost control.
The car spun and crossed over the three westbound lanes before entering the right side ditch and rolling several times. All four men inside were thrown from the car.
All four were taken to hospital, including the driver with serious injuries, the front passenger with critical injuries and the two backseat passengers with minor injuries.
The highway was blocked for several hours on Saturday as officers diverted traffic at Country Hills Boulevard while they investigated. Roads opened at around 5:30 p.m.
Investigators say excessive speed was likely a factor in the crash.
